CLCA Assistance are proud to have helped a very ill young man to achieve a very special ambition on Tuesday 6th February 2019.
Tim is 16 and has a life threatening condition and been in hospital for several weeks for treatment and support of his breathing. His wish? To meet Chelsea’s football team players. An opportunity to meet the team at the Chelsea training ground was arranged by ‘Oakley’s Outings’, part of ‘Share a Star’ charity and CLCA Assistance was contacted 24 hours before, to assess the medical suitability for the move of Tim from hospital to the cold and damp pitch at the Chelsea training field in Cobham. After our Medical Adviser had taken an in-depth medical report and spoken with the consultant responsible for Tim’s care, a safe plan was devised and we activated our partnering company, Medi4, who provided the high-dependency ambulance and paramedic crew.
The attached photos show Tim, wrapped up against the dank winter weather, having a great day, meeting his heroes and being the centre of attention. He was accompanied by his brother, mother and friend, Oakley, as well as the two paramedic crew and a wonderful nurse from Tim’s own hospital.
‘Share A Star’ is a charity that supports seriously unwell children from birth to age 21, and their families. They send ‘goodie’ boxes to each child, and their siblings, throughout the year.
The ‘Oakleys Outings’ side of the charity arranges day trips or weekends away, so that their ‘Stars’ (children) can spend quality time with their families, making memories away from hospitals. These have included theatre trips, adventure park visits, Peppa Pig World, museum trips, zoo trips and ‘zoo keeper for the day’ events too. In each case, the child makes his or her choice and the charity organises as much as possible for the family. You can find this very special charity at http://shareastar.org/oakleys-outings/
Tim, as well as his family and friends, had a fabulous three hours on his outing from hospital and he arrived back in his nice warm bed a happier young chap with no complications nor problems after the excursion. He has a story to tell and memories were definitely made.
CLCA Assistance is delighted and honoured to have helped Tim live his dream and ‘reach his goal’. Best wishes to Tim and all his family at this difficult time.
